This piece was completed during the 2024 Estes Valley Plein Air event in two sessions along Trail Ridge Road. The usual challenges inherent to plein air painting of wind and rapidly changing light conditions were rather pronounced at this location due to the elevation and exposure to the elements. Having the opportunity to paint while surrounded by views of mountain peaks was a remarkable and memorable experience.
